Choosing the perfect puppy for yourself or your family can be difficult at times when they all look alike. If you have a preference as to the temperament that you want from your puppy we can help you to find your perfect match. Whether you want a dog for young children, family, hunting, search & rescue or a therapy dog we can help you choose the best puppy that will be perfect for you.

We welcome you to come and see the puppies after they are born but we do use special precautions to protect our puppies from outside diseases such as Parvo that is life threatening to a litter of pups. It is easily transmitted by shoes without anyone knowing. We have taken special steps in order to reduce the risk.

PUPPIES and how they get here!

We thought it would be nice to explain the process of how this breeding thing works. We have had so many questions in the past of how it works so we thought we could explain what we do to bring you that special friend. First of all we have the Sire and of course the Dam. We have spent years picking out the perfect dogs to start our family and researched their history. All of our current Dams have been from our own females that we have kept back. Our females come into heat every 6-7 months . We have to know when they are ready to breed and which days they are most fertile. This takes years of experience. Then after they are bred we have to wait between 58-63 days before they are born. Usually at 4 weeks we can observe the Dam's abdomen becoming larger.  Before she has her pups we separate her from the other dogs preferably the last week so she has peace and quiet and is able to rest. When the Dam is close to giving birth she will stop eating and becomes very picky about food. This in when canned food comes to the rescue. They can usually tolerate a little at this time. We always have the perfect spot for her to have her pups including a new whelping box with fresh shavings surrounding her area and sterilized bedding. It looks great for the first 5 minutes then the Dam usually starts digging up her bed to get ready to have pups. Circling the area for endless hours. This is when we are on high alert. We have installed a camera above her whelping box so at all times whether we are with her or outside we can monitor her on our phones and TV. We are able to check on the her continually . We are there with her when the first pup arrives, usually on a weekend at 2 in the morning. Yes, it can be very exhausting. But so rewarding at the same time. To see such a miracle take place in front of us is amazing. So precious and so beautiful. That's when we stand back and let mom do her job. At times we have had to intervene to help remove the sac so pups can breath but usually the Dam does not need any help at all. The pups immediately begin to nurse after a few minutes which also helps the Dam to have the rest of her pups. After they are all delivered then it's time for us to rest. Having pups can last up to 12 hours, the last pup being born 12 hours later.

Puppy Care 101

At 3 days old we remove the dew claws . This prevents having them surgically removed at a later date. We start worming at 2,4,6 weeks old then they receive their first vaccinations to  protect against several diseases including Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Hepatitis and Canine Parainfluenza at  6 weeks old. We begin feeding soft food at 3 weeks old to supplement with  the moms milk. This is when their little claws begin to be sharp which is painful to the mom when nursing.  We also  start introducing the pups to Crate training so they know its a fun safe place . We place a crate inside their bedding area when the Dam is not with them any longer and remove the door. They love the crate and usually all are piled up inside it. We order their AKC papers well in advanced so everything will be ready when they go to their new homes. I know this was long but I hope it clears up any questions you might have. Yes it is very time consuming but Yes we love doing it! Making people happy makes us happy and we love to hear about your puppy and it's new life full of adventures!
